Types of insects found around Twizel
KP hid some plastic insects around Twin Lakes.
We found these.
A Shield Beetle.
A Praying Mantis.
A Grasshopper.
A Weta was under one of these stones.
Here is the Weta.
Introduced Pests found around Twizel.
KP is showing us a stuffed Opossum.
It is a very dark Opossum.
KP showed us a stoat.
Jasper is having a close look at a weasel.
Here is a Ferret, a stoat and a weasel.
A hedgehog can eat native eggs,
Hedgehogs can climb trees.
Native Birds found around Twizel
We went to Twin Lakes. KP showed us some of
the native.birds we find near Twin Lakes.
These are Paradise ducks.
This is a Shoveler duck.
This is a Banded Doterell.
This is a White Faced Heron.
The Black Stilt is an endangered bird.
Its Maori name is "Kaki."
Sometimes you might see or hear a little owl.
This is a toy owl.

This is Nexis beside his house at the top.
He can come down the road,
pass Ms Douglas, her house and her cats,
and arrive at school, the large building at the bottom.
