Mandarin Maths

First we got a piece of paper and put our name on it.
Then we all got a mandarin and peeled it.
We separated each segment.
Then we counted how many segments there were.
Sarah and Ms Douglas got a mandarin too.

The least number of segments was eight. (8)
The most number of segments was twelve. (12)
We think this is how many mandarin segments we got but maybe some got eaten before we could count them all!
One person got 8 segment.
One person got 9 segments
Seven people got 10 segments.
One person got 11 segments.
Six people got 12 segments.
After we counted them, we were allowed to eat them.  Hmm-mmm.

We are learning that we can divide one whole object into smaller parts. We like apple and mandarin maths.
